Maintaining the driving records of all West Virginia residents with a driver’s license is the responsibility of West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles. The driving record maintained by the West Virginia DMV includes your driving history such as:
- Your name, address, and driver’s license number
- Demerit points
- Driver’s license status and expiration date
- Traffic accidents
- Traffic violations
- Suspensions or revocations
- DUI reports
People other than you who can request and view your West Virginia driving record include:
- Employers
- Insurance companies
You can make West Virginia Driving Records Request for two different types of driving records. The West Virginia driving records that you can request include:
- Regular driving record
- Certified driving record
Both driving records include your complete West Virginia driving history. The only difference between the two is that regular driving record is uncertified while certified driving record is a certified record of your West Virginia driving history.
You can make West Virginia Driving Records Request in three different ways: in person, by mail and by email or fax. Another way to obtain your driving record is online through public databases.
In person
To make an in person request for your West Virginia driving records, you’ll need:
- Visit West Virginia DMV office
- Fill out and submit Virginia Driving Records Request form
- Provide a copy of your driver’s license or state issued ID
- Pay $5 fee for regular driving record or $6 for certified driving record
By mail
To request your West Virginia driving record by mail, you’ll need to:
- Fill out and mail Driving Records Request form along with a copy of your driver’s license or state issued ID to: WV DMV
