Wisconsin Federal Courts – Locations, Hours, Phone Numbers

There are two Wisconsin Federal Courts. There is the United States Eastern District court for Wisconsin, and then there is the western court.  both Federal Courts have official sites for the convenience and utility of residents of Wisconsin.

The Eastern court takes cases t the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the only two exceptions for these are the patent claim cases, and those against the government of the United States. The court’s HQ, offices and the central courthouse are all located in Milwaukee. However the northern counties of the district were serviced by one courthouse located in Green Bay.

The green bay division counties include Winnebago, Waushara, Waupaca, Shawano, Outagamie, Oconto, Menominee, Marinette, Manitowoc, Langlade, Kewaunee, Forest, Florence, Door, Calumet, and Brown. The Milwaukee division counties include Waukesha, Washington, Walworth, Sheboygan, Racine, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Marquette, Kenosha, Green Lake, Fond Du Lac, and Dodge.

Right now the U.S. Attorney is Gregory Haanstaad. The Wisconsin U.S. Attorney is the one who represents the state in civil and criminal litigation cases.

The Wisconsin courthouse of western district is a federal courthouse in the seventh circuit. Except for patent claims and cases against the nation’s government everything else is taken here. Those two are appealed to Federal Circuit Court. The District court came to be in 1870. The court for the Western district is held at Madison.

The district courthouse is responsible for counties including Wood, Washburn, Vilas, Vernon, Trempealeau, Taylor, Sawyer, St Croix, Sauk, Rusk, Rock, Richland, Price, Portage, Polk, Pierce, Pepin, Oneida, Monroe, Marathon, Lincoln, Lafayette, La Crosse, Juneau, Jefferson, Jackson, Iron, Iowa, Green, Grant, Eau Claire, Dunn, Douglas, Dane, Crawford, Columbia, Clark, Chippewa, Burnett, Buffalo, Bayfield, Barron, Ashland, and Adams.
