There are two Kentucky Federal Courts: one for the Eastern District of Kentucky and another for the Western District.

The United States Eastern District of Kentucky court has jurisdiction over the eastern half of Kentucky. It is the Court of Appeals that has the appellate jurisdiction for this district; it handles all cases except for the claims against the government and any patent claims.

Likewise, the Western District Court, as the name says, has jurisdiction over the western half of the state, while the Court of appeals in the Sixth Circuit handles all appeals in the region, save for any claims regarding patents and those that one may make against the government.
